Agnes C. Cleary, 86, of Lewisberry and formerly of Camp Hill, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 in UPMC West Shore Hospital.
She was born in Cohoes, NY, the daughter of the late Thomas R. and Rose Ann (McDonough) Andrews.
She was a parishioner of Church of the Good Shepherd, Camp Hill for many years and was currently a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Mechanicsburg. Agnes graduated from St. Patrick’s Grade School, Cohoes, NY and was a 1953 graduate of Catholic Central High School, Lansingburgh, NY. She was a U.S. Navy veteran with the Corps Waves and worked for several years in Holy Spirit Hospital’s laboratory department and medical records. Over the years, she volunteered at many church, school and community events.
In addition to her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Jane Cleary (1964-1993) and Colleen Myers (1967-1998); three brothers, Matthew, William and Thomas Andrews; and three sisters, Mary Brown, Katherine Chard and Frances Plouff.
She is survived by her beloved husband of more than 64 years, Vernon V. Cleary; loving daughters, Clara J. Cleary of Carlisle, Charlene Cleary of Rossville and Maurlene Betz and husband Douglas of New Cumberland; four grandchildren, Michelle Schrantz, Danielle Hegedus, Nicole Hornbarger and Derek Myers; great grandchildren, Nathaniel Hornbarger, Elsie Jean Hornbarger, William Schrantz and Jane Schrantz; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 310 Hertzler Rd. Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 with the Rev. Samuel Dubois as Celebrant. Viewing will be held one hour prior to Mass in the chapel of the church. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Upper Allen Twp.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in Agnes’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
