Albert G. Bogdan, 85, of Lemoyne, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Holy Spirit Hospital. He was born April 1, 1930, in Shamokin to the late Peter Paul and Florence (Nasatka) Bogdan.
He graduated from Coal Township High school in 1948 and immediately began working for the railroad. He was a retired cable splicer from Amtrak with 43 years of service to the railroad system. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Camp Hill, serving as head usher. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, West Shore Council 4068; St. Francis Home Assn., Shamokin; Duncannon Sportsmen’s Club; and Brotherhood of Railroad Signal Men of America.
He was an avid hunter and gardener. He loved to help others and make people laugh. If he was watching TV, it was Gunsmoke or any western show. He brought faith and happiness to countless residents for many years by volunteering at nursing homes leading the rosary and helping with Mass. He was a loving, caring and dedicated husband, brother, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Pauline (Futchko) Bogdan; three sons, Peter Paul, II (Debbie) of Dickson, TN; David Michael and Mark Andrew, both of Mechanicsburg; a daughter, Barbara Anne Stetler (Michael) of Mechanicsburg; a sister, Violet Carl of Elysburg; and five grandchildren: Matthew, Andrew and Olivia Bogdan; Erik and Kara Stetler. He was also preceded in death by four brothers (Leo, Larry, Joe and Stanley) and seven sisters (Agnes, Sister Theodosia, Dorothy, Theodora, Angie, Mamie and Anna).
The viewing will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Parish, Camp Hill. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately following at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Upper Allen Twp.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Church of the Good Shepherd, 3435 Trindle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011, or to the charity of one’s choice.
