Albert Joseph “Joe” Regan, age 89, husband of Carolyn Regan, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at Harrisburg Hospital following a brief illness. Born on December 13, 1927, in Pittsburgh, PA, Joe was the son of the late Albert J. and Dorothy (Bradley) Regan.

Joe graduated from Harrisburg Catholic High School in 1946. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves from 1947 to 1950, he spent most of his career in the industrial chemical business, starting at McKesson Robbins in Altoona, PA, and later becoming VP of Manley Regan Chemicals in Middletown, PA. Joe ultimately retired in 1985 from Diamond-Shamrock Chemicals in Philadelphia, PA.

As a young man, Joe played Twilight League baseball in both West Shore and City Leagues. He loved to hunt and fish, and was a scratch golfer. While he enjoyed Penn State tailgating, he was a lifelong Notre Dame football fan and loved all things Irish. “Pappy” loved the company of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed cheering them on from the stands. He was known for his good looks, charm, and quick wit.

Joe was a member of Lower Allen V.F.W. Post 7530; American Legion Post 26, Dillsburg, PA; and the West Shore Sports Hall of Fame. He was also a Life Member of the Carlisle Elks, and the Last of the Good Guys Group.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Regan, and former wife and good friend, Ruth Regan; children Patty Coia (husband Pete), Susan Mumma (husband Robert), Dyan Sourbeer (husband Frank), and Mike Regan (wife Fran); step-children Danny Walls (wife Traci) and Tina Matthews; and fourteen beloved grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Joe is also survived by two sisters, Mary Kay Golden and Peggy Thacker. He was preceded in death by his daughter Mary C. Regan and sister Helen Bordlemay.

A Celebration of Life mass will be held on Wednesday, September 6, from 10am to 11am at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, 212 State Street, Harrisburg.
