Alexander A. Barr

Alexander A. Barr, 88, formerly of Gettysburg and Winter Haven, FL, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013, at The Bridges At Bent Creek, Silver Spring Twp.

He retired as Vice-President of Harrisburg Glass; an Army Veteran of WWII; a member of Gettysburg United Methodist Church and the First United Methodist Church, Lake Alfred, FL; Harrisburg Lodge #629, F.&A.M., Harrisburg; Harrisburg Consistory; Zembo Shrine; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Harrisburg Forest #43; lifetime member of American Legion Post 27, Harrisburg. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather and was also an avid artist and gardener. Born on October 13, 1924, in Clearfield, he was the son of the late Thomas and Cora M. (Kohl) Barr. Mr. Barr was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Joanne R. (Kendig) Barr.

Surviving are two daughters, Paula J. Baker (John) of Burnt Cabins, and Alexis A. Brown of Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren, Michael A. Poleto, Melissa S. Poleto, Justin J. Brown and Danielle N. Brown; three great grandchildren, Skyley, Alexandria and Zachary.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland with Pastor Jay Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp. Viewing will be held one hour prior to services in the funeral home.
