Alvin J. Baker

Alvin J. Baker, 83, of New Cumberland, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021 in his residence.

He was a retired printer with the Navy Ships Parts Control Center, Hampden Twp., was a 1956 graduate of Middletown High School and was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. Alvin was an avid Porsche enthusiast and a member of the Central PA Porsche Club.

Alvin enjoyed all types of dancing and met Joan, his wife to be, when he asked her to do the twist. They’ve been “Rockin” for 60 years!

Alvin was born in Harrisburg, the son of the late Jacob and Lillian (Weis) Baker. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 54 years, Joan (Cahill) Baker; daughter Gloria B. Sheridan (Colby) of Marietta, GA; sister Doris Gyurko of Manheim; three grandsons, Mitchell, Evan and William; several nieces and nephews; and his extended family, Pat and Harold Lepley, Harold James Lepley, Vivian Donlevy and DJ Tamanoski.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, December 17, 2021 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time, and a time of sharing will immediately follow the memorial service. Private burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp. at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in Alvin’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
