Amy Irene (Mcclintock) Ensminger

Amy Irene (McClintock) Ensminger, 74, of Mechanicsburg died Thursday, September 29, 2022 at her home surrounded by family.

She was an operating room nurse retiring from Grandview Surgery Center, Camp Hill. A 1966 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School, she attended Albright College and graduated from Polyclinic Nursing School. While she was an orthopedic OR nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, she assisted with one of the first knee replacement surgeries. She was a member of Christian Life Assembly where she taught second grade Sunday School, helped with Children’s Choir, and was active in Bible Study. She enjoyed reading, Scrabble, and Mahjong.

She took joy in helping others and was affectionately known as the family nurse. She loved to host the family holiday dinners and was known for her humor and generosity. She was always willing to help.

She was born July 2, 1948 in Cumberland, MD to the late Dr. Ernest D. and Phyllis Gene (Daugherty) Helmick. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Gail Sweeten; nephew, Christian Sweeten; and ex-husband George Grant McClintock III.

She is survived by her son, Grant Edward McClintock (Amanda) of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Jennifer Irene McClintock of Mechanicsburg; granddaughter, Alyssa Christian McClintock of Mechanicsburg; brother, Ernest D. Helmick, Jr. (Dot) of Newberrytown; sister, Ann D. Lefevre of Mechanicsburg; brother-in-law, Gerald K. Sweeten (Julia) of New Cumberland; eight nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Also, her faithful canine companion, Lorna.

Visitation will be from 10 am until a Celebration of Amy’s Life at 11 am Saturday, October 15,2022 at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland at 1303 Bridge Street, New Cumberland , PA 17070.
