Angelo J. Sabia, 85, of Camp Hill, died Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at home.
Born on April 29, 1932, in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Angelo R. and Mary (Lombargo) Sabia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his beloved son and best friend, Mark A. Sabia, in 2014. He retired as Chief Mechanical Engineer for Gannett Fleming Engineers, Camp Hill; a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War; a member of Church of the Good Shepherd, Camp Hill; West Shore Elks Lodge #2257, Camp Hill; Enola Sportsman's Club; V.F.W. Post # 6704, Mechanicsburg. He was an accomplished clarinet and saxophone player and played in local bands in the 1940’s and 50’s, as well as in the Army Band. Ange enjoyed Tuesday lunches with his three longtime friends, Chet, Dave and Bill, where he always told the best stories from his childhood in Hazleton.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 60 years, Delores M. Poluirtz Sabia; a sister, Donna Marie Barletta of Long Island, NY; several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday at Church of the Good Shepherd, Camp Hill, with the Rev. Philip G. Burger as Celebrant. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Upper Allen Twp.
Viewing will be held one hour prior to the Mass on Wednesday in the church.
Angelo’s family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and caregivers of the 365 Hospice and also, Home Instead for the care and comfort that was shown to him during his extended illness.
