Ann D. Spangler, age 79 of Mechanicsburg, lost her long courageous battle to Lewy Body Dementia on Sunday, January 8th, 2017, while at home with her husband and family. She was blessed to have a devoted and loving husband to care for her until the end.
She was born March 14th 1937 in Gettysburg and was raised on Far Away Farms in Bucks County where she enjoyed riding horses. Ann stayed busy playing sports throughout high school and was crowned prom queen at Council Rock High. She attended Camp Hagan in the Pocono Mountains from the time she was 8 and then enjoyed becoming a camp counselor when she got older.
Ann met the love of her life, Don Spangler, in 1971 and they were married in 1972. Her passions included shopping, dining out, crafts, spending time with her grandchildren and being with her cherished dog, Squirt. She also enjoyed vacationing, especially the trips that included the grandchildren.
Ann was a member of the Silver Spring Presbyterian Church, where she once served as a deacon.
Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Don Spangler; a son, James Stubbs (Lori); daughters, Donna Sholly, Dawn Hoskin (Stan), and Terry Jackson (Jerry); nine grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; a sister Susan Bailey; a brother Steven Durst and she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Durst.
Visitation will be held 1 – 2 PM Friday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland, with a memorial service immediately following at 2 PM officiated by Pastor Dawn Spangler.
