Ann E. Soder, 82, of Mechanicsburg passed away peacefully at home on February 15th surrounded by her family. She was born in Manor, PA on December 2, 1938 to the late Rev. Dr. Russell C. Eroh and Gladys Robinson Eroh and was raised in Greensburg, PA where her father was an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. Ann was preceded in death by her parents.
Ann graduated from Greensburg High School and attended Penn State University where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority.
Ann married Ronald L. Soder of Grassflat, PA on September 5, 1959. They had three children – Douglas (Penny) of Hong Kong, Lee Ann (George) Labecki of New Cumberland, and Elizabeth (Douglas) Legore of Carlisle.
Ann was a long-time member of the Camp Hill United Methodist Church, her church home since 1962. While she used her many talents in a range of leadership positions over the years, her forte was MUSIC. She was a multi-talented vocalist, pianist, and organist and willingly shared these talents throughout her life. She was a member of the Sanctuary Choir for 59 years. She also served as Assistant Choir Director from 1966 to 1993.
Outside of the church setting, she offered private piano lessons for many years to countless students in the Camp Hill area.
Ann was also a member of the Harrisburg Singers for over two decades. When she relinquished her active role as a singer, Ann became Librarian for the group.
After living in Camp Hill for 40 years, Ann and Ron moved to Traditions of America Retirement Community in Silver Spring Township where they have enjoyed the relationships of their neighbors for the past 12 years.
As empty nesters, Ann and Ron enjoyed traveling across the United States and taking cruises throughout the world. Ann also relished playing bridge with Ron as a member of the Camp Hill Bridge Club as well as with friends at Traditions of America.
One of her true joys in life was being “Nana” to five very special grandsons who adored her – Jack and Steve Legore, Ben and Bryan Soder, and Nicholas Labecki.
A celebration of life will be held at the Camp Hill United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 20 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held immediately prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 am in the Fireside Room.
