Anna M. (Briner) Askin, 88, of Sinking Spring and formerly of Wyomissing and Harrisburg, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016 in her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
She was a retired Manager with Cambridge Commons Apartments, Wyomissing and a graduate of Reading High School. Ann was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn where she was active with after school programs, sewing Baptism napkins, the Friends of Reading Hospital and other committees. Additionally, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Ann was born in Reading to the late Edward and Catherine (Hoffman) Briner. In addition to her parents, she was the widow of Reynolds F.M. Askin and was preceded in death by her son Stephen D. Askin and her three sisters, Betty McGuire, Catherine Guest and Nancy Balliet.
She is survived by her four daughters, Sondra L. Parthemore and husband Gil of New Cumberland, Linda Gisler of Camarillo, CA, Helene Smith and husband Ed of Sinking Spring and Anne Dykty and husband Vic of Sinking Spring; eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren; and nine nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, November 26, 2016 in Advent Lutheran Church, 16 Telford Ave. West Lawn, PA 19609. A visitation with Ann’s family will be held during a reception immediately following the service. A private burial and committal service will be held at the convenience of the family in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in Ann’s name to Advent Lutheran Church at the address above.
