Anne M. Gurka

Anne M. Gurka, 70, of Fairview Twp., New Cumberland, died Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Colonial Park Care Center, Lower Paxton Twp.

She retired as a Registered Nurse for Lutheran Home Care Services, Gettysburg. Anne graduated from Marian Catholic High School in Tamaqua, PA and continued her studies at Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing in Allentown, PA. She was an avid reader and loved music. Anne had a passion for dachshund rescue and held a special place in her heart for her pets.

Born on November 5, 1946, in Coaldale, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Bernadette (Hanlon) Swetz.

Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Edward M. Gurka; a son and his wife, Matt and Darcie Gurka of Phoenixville; a daughter and her husband, Beth Gurka and Matt Rockman of Mechanicsburg; three sisters, Bernadette Hafer of Lake Wynonah, Eileen Ashfield of Mahanoy City, and Alfreda Pugliese of Lake Wynonah; five grandchildren, Lily, Tristan, Abby, Kenna and Kaia; many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 6 PM on Thursday, September 21, at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland, with the Rev. Carl Ford Peterson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services in the funeral home.
