Ardis E. Porta

Ardis E. Porta, 97, formerly of Altoona, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Thornwald Home, Carlisle. Born on June 27, 1926 in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Lennie (Weaver) Etters.

Ardis lived in Altoona most of her life. She would marry Thomas Porta, and the two would raise a family and spend nearly 60 years together before his passing in 1999. A decade later, Ardis relocated to Central PA to be closer to her kids and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and reading her bible. A faithful Christian, she was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. She took pride in her home and enjoyed cooking for others. In later years, she would cherish the time spent with her grandkids.

Surviving Ardis are her children, Gary Porta of Mechanicsburg and Donna Bowser (husband, Dennis) of Camp Hill; daughter-in-law, Pamelamary Porta of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Julie Barrick (husband, Brian), Brian Bowser (wife, Erin) and Brandon Porta; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Porta Sr; and a son, Thomas Edward Porta Jr.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family, with burial taking place in Blair Memorial Park, Altoona.
