Bernard J. (“Bernie”) Dugan, 89, of Camp Hill, and formerly of New Cumberland and Linwood, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 with his family at his side.
Bernie was born in Newark, NJ to the late John and Mary (Jackson) Dugan.
He was the widower of Barbara Ann (Ward) Dugan and is survived by his sons, Patrick (Teri) of Secane, PA and Bernard G. (Karen) of New Cumberland; siblings, James, John, Edward, Margaret Mary Holbrook (Ralph), Gerald (Barbara) and Eileen “Babe” Kirby (Blair); grandchildren, Sarah Aquino (Axel), Bernard W. Dugan (Andrea), Katherine Dugan, Timothy Files, Denise Alsted (Tom) and Joel Bower; four great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was a retired Group Manager and Special Agent with the criminal investigation division of the Internal Revenue Service and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Bernie was a graduate of St. James High School, Chester, PA and the former PA Military College (now Widener University). He was an active member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Men of Malvern, Knights of Columbus, and the Rotary Club of West Shore. Bernie was also a member of American Legion Post 143.
Throughout his life, Bernie was dedicated to his family, his Catholic faith and service to others.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St. New Cumberland, PA 17070 and will be live streamed via Saint Theresa Parish Facebook page. Viewing will be from 5 – 7 pm Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bernie’s memory are respectfully requested to either his church at the address above or to Malvern Retreat House, 315 S. Warren Ave, Malvern, PA 19355.
