Bruce P. Costello, 90, of New Cumberland, passed away on Palm Sunday, April 13, 2025, at home, surrounded by those who loved him most. He was the son of the late Peter and Mary (Bonar) Costello, born on March 24, 1935, in New Ferry, England.
He was a 1955 graduate of John Harris High School and in his younger days, enjoyed shooting competitive archery. Bruce would spend most of his life in the Harrisburg area. He retired as a distribution manager from the H.J. Heinz Company (now Kraft Heinz Co.), working in both Mechanicsburg and, for a stretch of time, Iowa City, IA.
He and his wife would raise four girls, ultimately putting down roots in New Cumberland. While living there, he was a faithful member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, a former Chaplain with the Sons of the American Legion - Post 143, and a member of VFW Post 7415. He had a tremendous amount of love for his daughters and thoroughly enjoyed watching them grow and start families of their own. His family is comforted in the fact that he's reunited with his loving wife of 62 years, and his daughter, Chris, who passed earlier this year.
Surviving Bruce are his daughters, Kim Fissel (Robert) of York Haven, Patricia Clancy (Patrick) of Carlisle, and Teresa Costello (Gordon Fusik) of Orlando, FL; eight grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; and many cousins in England and Ireland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan L. (Vanalman) Costello (d. 2020); and daughter, Christine Ann Nauss (d. 2025).
A Celebration of Life will be held for both Bruce and Joan from 12PM to 4PM on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at VFW Post 7415, New Cumberland. Committal services for Bruce will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Resurrection Cemetery, Harrisburg.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Bruce's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
