Carl E. “Toad” Weltmer, Jr., 82, of Etters, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 in his residence.
He was a retired dock worker with the former Preston Trucking, Emigsville, a truck and van driver with the West Shore School District, and early in life was the owner/operator of Weltmer’s Sunoco, New Cumberland where he worked with his father and continued the business even after his father’s retirement. Toad was a graduate of New Cumberland High School, enjoyed reading, cross word puzzles, watching sports and reminiscing on anything to do with New Cumberland history. Toad was born in Mechanicsburg, the son of the late Carl E. and Leona M. (Rader) Weltmer, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jaclyn Adkins and an infant son.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janet L. (Helm) Weltmer; children, Wendy Marquardt (Greg) of Phoenixville, PA, Geoff Weltmer of Carlisle, Jody Weltmer of New Cumberland, Kelly Curtis of New Cumberland, Sharon Weltmer of Etters and Kristen Pelliccia (Jose) of Lancaster; brothers, Barry of Cresco, PA, Arthur of New Cumberland and Michael “Mick” of Middletown; thirteen grandchildren, Katie, Megan, Dan, Matthew, Benjamin, Jordan, Leo, Brie, Eli, Alex, Jayson, Sam and Elena; eight great grandchildren, Owen, Abby, Caroline, Veda, Scout, Mya, Brynlee and Hadley; and several nieces and nephews.
