New Cumberland

Carl Edward “Moonie” Snyder Sr., 77, of New Cumberland, passed away on December 9, 2024 at Homeland Center. He was born in Bellefonte, PA on June 15, 1947 to the late Ralph and Mary (Yothers) Snyder.

A proud high school graduate, Carl dedicated his career to the financial industry as a self-employed professional, known for his integrity and commitment to helping others. His entrepreneurial spirit allowed him to forge strong connections in his community and foster lasting relationships with those he served. Carl's vibrant personality was matched only by his numerous hobbies and interests. He was an avid music lover, encouraging those around him to embrace the gift of song. As a lead vocalist in various local bands, he shared his love for music with many. An enthusiastic golfer, Carl found joy in both the game and the friendships it cultivated. He also shared his love for sports through his involvement in softball and as a proud participant in the Tri-County League. Carl was an active member of the community, having served as a past commander of the Sons of the American Legion for over 25 years. He also contributed his time and efforts to organizations such as the Elks and American Legion Post 974. His dedication to service was evident in everything he did, particularly in his support of Vickie's Angels, a local charity. As a lifelong fan of Penn State, Carl celebrated every game day with unwavering loyalty, creating cherished memories with family and friends. His laughter, kindness, and love for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Carl leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted spouse, Debbie (Hornbaker) Snyder; his son, Carl (Sherry) Snyder, Jr.; his sisters, Jean (Rick) Jackson and Linda (Ray) Johnson; and his cherished grandchildren—Ashton (Andrew) Shultz, Caleb Snyder, along with great-grandchildren Athena, Aslan, and Leni Shultz; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death in addition to his parents by a son, Baby Boy Snyder; a sister, Shirley Steele; a brother, Thomas Snyder; and a niece, Karen Steele.

In celebration of Carl's life, a memorial service will be held at a later date. In honoring his legacy, we carry forward his spirit of generosity by asking for donations to Vickie’s Angels, 511 Bridge St #511, New Cumberland, PA 17070 in lieu of flowers.
