Carol S. Hillegas

Carol S. Hillegas passed away peacefully on September 10, 2018 surrounded with love by her family at the age of 67. Carol was diagnosed with cancer in October 2015 and bravely endured treatment these past three years. She was born on October 18, 1950 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to the late Charles W. and Ruth S. Resch. She was married to Bob, her loving husband and childhood sweetheart for 38 years. Her life was dedicated to caring for her family, and providing them with a loving home, good values and a love of God. Her greatest love was being a wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband Bob, and daughter Erica, step-daughters Michelle Hillegas of Mechanicsburg and Jessica Knowles of East Berlin; sister Janet Degl’Innocenti and husband Peter. Also, 3 grandaughters, Eva Knowles, Neela and Aviva Binder. A grandson, Maverick Knowles and step-grandaughter Kaitlyn Norris. Carol is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Carol graduated in 1968 from Cedar Cliff HS and Penn State University in 1971. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Highland Park for her entire life. She was a skilled seamstress, creating clothes, bed quilts, wall hangings and dolls and loved to teach others how to sew. Carol loved to knit and crochet.

Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be held from 10am until a Memorial Service at 11am on Saturday, September 15 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1610 Carlisle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011. A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held immediately following the Memorial Service at The Susquehanna Club, 2001 Mission Drive, New Cumberland, PA 17070.
