Catherine Grove Thomas

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine Grove Thomas, who departed this life on February 2, 2025, at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home in Carlisle, Pennsylvania at the age of 68. She was born on February 21, 1956, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to the late Mary (Flickinger) Grove and Charles Grove. Cathy lived a life marked by love, devotion, and a steadfast commitment to her family and friends.

A devoted member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Mechanicsburg, Cathy found strength and community in her faith. Her passions included joyful family gatherings, shopping adventures, attending craft shows, and vacationing in Ocean City, New Jersey. She enjoyed watching classic musicals and performances from the 1930s and 1940s, and often shared that joy with her family.

She was a 1974 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. Cathy worked in the insurance industry, primarily in claims processing her entire career, and most recently with Capital Blue Cross. Cathy recently celebrated 47 years of marriage to her beloved husband, Brandon Thomas. Together, they created a family and a home filled with warmth and love. She is survived by her son, Bradley Thomas; her brothers, Reverend John 'Jack' (Shirley) Grove and William (Judi) Grove; her sisters, Susan Bowers and Patrice (Gregory) Miller; the extended Thomas and McCaffrey families, and numerous nieces and nephews, who cherished her unwavering love and guidance. Cathy was preceded in death by her brother Richard Grove. Additionally, Cathy cherished her life-long friendships with classmates Deb Worden, Patty Brown, and Suzan McGill.

A special thank you to the kind and supportive nursing staff at Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, Hospice For All Seasons, and to the Church family and dear friends who touched Cathy's life over the years.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Mechanicsburg, to honor Cathy's devotion of faith and community service. Services will be held at the family’s convenience.
