Charles Martin Yocum, Jr.

Charles Martin Yocum, Jr., 80, formerly of New Cumberland and Lewistown, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 in Bethany Village, Lower Allen Twp.

He was a retired Supervisor with the Tax Clearance Unit of the PA State Department of Revenue, Harrisburg and one of the most well known organists in the area having served Westminster Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg, St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Cumberland, Faith Presbyterian Church, Colonial Park and Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Penbrook. He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Cumberland and the American Guild of Organists, Harrisburg Chapter where he served the guild in many different capacities and was recently honored by the guild as an A.G.O. Member of Honor for nearly sixty years of dedicated service to the fields of Sacred Music and Organ.

Chuck was born in Lewistown to the late Charles Martin and Dorothy (Klinger) Yocum, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Eleanor Ramage Yocum.

He is survived by his son Charles M. “Marty” Yocum, III and wife Jill of New Cumberland; a brother Dennis Neil Yocum of Pittsburgh; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 524 Bridge St. New Cumberland with the Rev. Elaine M. Dent, his pastor officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the funeral. Private burial and committal services will be held in Juniata Memorial Park, Granville Twp., Mifflin County.
