Charles W. “Bill” Mowery, 85, of Etters, and formerly of Scranton, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017 in his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was a motor vehicle supervisor with Bell Atlantic / Verizon in Harrisburg and formerly in Scranton. He was a Korean War Army veteran; a graduate of the former Lemoyne High School; and a member and Life Elder of the First Church of God, New Cumberland. After retirement, he volunteered his time serving The Bridge food pantry, Habitat for Humanity, and a few other organizations.
Charles was born in Harrisburg to the late Charles and Martha (Hart) Mowery.
He is survived by his wife whom he celebrated 65 years of marriage to this past October, Helen E. (Spoonhour) Mowery; two daughters, Dawn A. Donath and husband Joseph of Scranton and Shirley L. Osman and husband Jay of Landisburg; a brother Edward E. Mowery and wife Karen of East Petersburg; and a granddaughter Laura L. Donath of Sayre, PA.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, December 22, 2017 in First Church of God, 323 Reno St. New Cumberland, PA with the Rev. Charles Zahora, his Pastor officiating. Viewing will be from 12:30 pm until service time Friday in the church. Burial with military honors will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
