Charles “Chuck or Marty” M. Yocum, III, 60, of New Cumberland, passed away on November 1, 2024 at Harrisburg Hospital. He was born on January 24, 1964, in Harrisburg, PA to the late Charles Martin Yocum, Jr. and Eleanor (Ramage) Yocum. Chuck graduated from Cedar Cliff High School in 1982 and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education at West Chester University in 1986. He later earned his Master’s degree at Penn State Harrisburg. He was a passionate golfer and avid sports enthusiast, he immersed himself in his love of athletics, often found on the greens of the West Shore Country Club, where he served on the Board of Directors. His musical talents shone bright as an accomplished violinist and member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee at the West Shore Symphony Orchestra. A proud Penn State fan, Chuck's love of the game was matched only by his joy in sharing his talents. In his professional life, Chuck thrived as an IT Business Analyst, bringing his expertise and innovation to the industry. His commitment to excellence and tireless work ethic set him apart and garnered respect from colleagues and peers alike.
Chuck leaves behind his loving wife of 10 years, Jill (Swartz) Yocum; a dear uncle, Dennis Yocum; two lifelong friends, Jack Long and Bob Hoke, along with a multitude of friends, family, and colleagues who were touched by his presence.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 9 – 10:30 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran, 530 Bridge Street in New Cumberland with a memorial service to follow immediately after. Reverend Jennifer Richards will officiate with a guest sermon by Reverend David P. Crosby, Jr.Fondly remembered for his dedication to causes close to his heart, Chuck generously supported Speranza Animal Rescue in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and the West Shore Symphony Orchestra, embodying his passion for music and compassion for animals.
