Christopher N. Sternbergh

Christopher N. Sternbergh, 67, of Summerdale passed away peacefully Sunday, September 27, 2015 at his home, surrounded by the love of his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kim Klemmer Sternbergh; two daughters, Elissa Sternbergh Hoehn of San Diego, CA and Amanda Sternbergh of Raleigh, NC; two brothers, D. Dexter Sternbergh of Toronto, Canada and J. Hazen Sternbergh of Tioga, PA; a sister, Virginia Lecrone of Spruce Creek, PA; and two beloved grandchildren, Evan Moralis and Katarina Hoehn.
Chris graduated from Dallastown High School and Franklin and Marshall College. In his professional life, he held many roles which reflected his love of the sciences. After college, he taught Physics at York Vo-Tech. He went on to pursue various positions as a chemist at McCreath Laboratories, PA Bureau of Standards, Carlisle Tire and Rubber Co., finally retiring from the PA Department of Environmental Protection in 2011. He was also a past President of the Southeastern PA section of the American Chemical Society.
His early passions included classic sports cars, model rocketry and wine making. Later, he also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, crossword puzzles and karate. He achieved his Fourth Dan Black Belt and proudly served as a volunteer instructor at Okinawan Karate Academy RYU KOKU SEIDOKAN at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Harrisburg.
Chris inspired his students, children and grandchildren with his spirit of adventure, vivid imagination, love of learning and passion for travel. Most of all, he will be remembered for his marvelous sense of humor which he was able to retain throughout the course of his brief but painful illness.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 10 at the Susquehanna Club, New Cumberland. Visitation will be from 1 - 2 PM with a memorial immediately following.
