Clarence E. Bast, Jr.

Clarence E. Bast, Jr., 73, of New Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was a retired vending machine mechanic for Covenco, Middletown and formerly worked for Servomation, Harrisburg. He was a Navy Veteran of the Viet Nam War and a member of American Legion Post 143 and VFW Post 7415, both of New Cumberland. Clarence enjoyed antique shops, yard sales, flea markets, all types of music, old movies and reading science fiction.

Clarence was born in Harrisburg to the late Clarence E. and June Rose (Reed) Bast, Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife of more than 55 years, Alice E. (Poticher) Bast; daughters, Debra A. Smith and husband Ronald N., Sr. of New Cumberland, Laura E.B. Becker and husband John L. of New Cumberland and Tammy Bast of Mechanicsburg; a grandson Ronald N. Smith, Jr. and wife Kayla; and two great grandchildren, Briella and Wyatt.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 pm on Saturday, March 11, 2017 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland with Pastor Gilbert Thurston officiating. Viewing will be from 1:30 – 3:30 pm Saturday in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be held in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
