Cornelius A. “Con” Rodgers, 88, formerly of New Cumberland, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022 in his residence in Lemoyne with his loving wife at his side.
He was a retired History and Government teacher at Cedar Cliff High School, Camp Hill; a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland; and a U.S. Navy veteran. Con received his BA from Penn State where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and his Masters from Columbia University, NY, NY. He was the social studies department chair at Cedar Cliff High School; was a published author of the 75th Anniversary History of the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra; served on the Education Committee for the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra; and was a former New Cumberland Borough Councilman.
Con was born in Harrisburg, the son of the late Edward and Winifred (Fegan) Rodgers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Joseph and Thomas.
He is survived by his wife of more than 55 years, Carol J. (Martin) Rodgers; daughter Amy Beth MacHenry and husband Stephen of New Holland, PA; son Stephen Douglas Rodgers and partner Michael Moran of NY, NY; and two grandchildren, Scott Michael and Emily Jeanne MacHenry.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Viewing will be one hour prior to services in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap on Thursday (July 14, 2022) after the funeral.
