Dale L. Stiles, 57, of Camp Hill, PA, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Derry Twp. He was the son of Shirley (Jones) Stiles and the late Donald E. Stiles, born on February 6, 1965 in Harrisburg.
Dale was a 1983 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School, Camp Hill, and a lineman on the football team all four years. He would serve his country in the U.S. Navy before beginning a 34-year career in the trucking industry. He would start out as a jockey and then drive locally before becoming employed with Ward Trucking, Camp Hill, where they would send him out on the road. Behind the CB radio, “Cuddy” was chatty and entertaining, and he beamed when referring to himself as a “professional linehaul driver.” He was the company’s top driver several different years and a member of the “Million Mile Club.”
Perhaps the time spent inside the cab gave him the recharge he needed, because outside of work, Dale was active and constantly with those he loved. Anything he did or experienced was unquestionably better when his kids were around, and he supported them in all their scholastic and athletic endeavors. But Dale didn’t just observe, he always added to a situation. Dale followed his son’s football team to Ireland for a pre-season game; to make a long story short, he was the only parent who became a bartender at one of the pubs while visiting. He was the life of the party but also someone you could come to for advice; he was always eager to meet new people and had a natural ability to make those around him comfortable. He was a man of faith, and he wore his heart on his sleeve. No matter where he went, someone knew Dale.
He was a member of the Mechanicsburg VFW, Post 7530, and a PSU Nittany Lions fan all his life. The Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Orioles were his other teams, and he enjoyed sprint car racing and NASCAR. You knew what you were getting with Dale; he was authentic in every situation, and he cared about his family and friends. Being with those closest to him was all he needed, and for those he leaves behind, they will forever treasure the time they shared.
In addition to his mother, Dale is survived by his children, Jordan D. Stiles and Ryleigh N. Stiles, both of Camp Hill; brothers, Richard L. “Dick” Stiles (wife, Cyndie) of Evergreen, NC, and David “Babe” L. Stiles, (wife, Laurel) of Lemoyne; a sister, De-Anna L. Wheeler (husband, Mike) of Magna, UT; nieces and nephews, Jason Stiles, Hannah Stiles and Kaela and Krysten Wheeler; great-nieces and nephews, Jase, Blakely and Reese; and his former wife and the mother of his children, Nicole L. Stiles of Camp Hill.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. Please continue to monitor Dale’s obituary for updated service information.
