Dana E. “Dan” Elicker, 73, of Hampden Twp., Camp Hill, died Monday, December 14, 2020, at Shippensburg Healthcare Center, Shippensburg.
He retired as a schoolteacher for the West Shore District and had taught at East Liverpool High School. Dan was a graduate of Cumberland Valley High School, Class of 1965, where he was president of his graduating class and went on to graduate from Geneva College with a B.S. in Biology. Dan served as a host to Bert-Ove Sjolund, a foreign exchange student from Sweden, with whom he had maintained a lifetime friendship.
He was very active with DeMolay, serving as a Representative Blue Honor Key Recipient, Chevalier, and the Cross of Honor Recipient. Dan was perhaps best known for giving the “Flower Talk” to many of the incoming classes. He was also a member of Eureka-West Shore Lodge #302, F. &A. M., Mechanicsburg.
Dan worked over several summers as a carpenter and built his own home in 1980. This cultured a love of woodworking and the building of many pieces of fine furniture. His interests included crossword puzzles, tropical fish, college football and hunting and fishing. He was Lutheran by faith.
Born on May 31, 1947, in Mechanicsburg, he was the son of the late Eugene R. and Rachel (Danner) Elicker.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Susan L. (Dohoney) Elicker; his daughter, Danielle Rosensweig of Boca Raton, FL; a brother, E. Robert Elicker II of Mechanicsburg; his mother-in-law, Josephine M. (Straley) Dohoney of Carlisle; two grandchildren, Addison and Alexis Rosensweig.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM on Friday in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
