Daniel Peter Delaney

d. January 19, 2025

Camp Hill, PA

Daniel Peter Delaney, 75, of Camp Hill passed Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Brookdale Grandon Farms, Mechanicsburg. He was born in Philadelphia, the son of the late William Francis and Marie (Quinn) Delaney.

Dan was a 1967 graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School, Philadelphia, then attended La Salle University and the University of Illinois - Chicago's John Marshall Law School. He returned to Pennsylvania to work under Judge Genevieve Blatt of the PA Commonwealth Court before taking a position with, and ultimately assuming the role of chief counsel of, the state's Public Utility Commission. The second half of his career was spent as a partner at the law firm Kirkpatrick & Lockhart (now K&L Gates) in Harrisburg, from which he would ultimately retire in 2018.

Dan was a public servant for many avenues, selflessly volunteering his time. He was a past member of the board of trustees for HACC, and he is a former school board president for the West Shore School District, where his children attended school. He volunteered for and supported local political initiatives, as well as the Bishop’s Annual Lenten Appeal. He spent his childhood summers in Ocean City, NJ where he was a lifeguard and remained physically active throughout his life, enjoying cycling, running, and hiking, completing multiple marathons and triathlons over the years. He loved history and rock music, attending Woodstock as a young man, and was never without his camera to take pictures for memories of every event or gathering he attended.

Dan put family first and instilled the importance of being studious, ethical, dependable, and generous. He supported his kids in every way and coached their youth sports teams. He was always calm, yet passionate with a quirky sense of humor. Not long after Dan’s retirement, he began to experience an unfortunate cognitive decline that progressed as time went on. Despite this, his smile and the love he had for his family remained ever present.

Surviving Dan are his sons, Neil Daniel Delaney (wife, Catherine Gribben Delaney) of Newport Beach, CA, and John William Delaney (wife, Tracey Mager Delaney) of Nutley, NJ; grandchildren, Leah Marielle Delaney, Vincent Charles Delaney, and Daniel Peter Delaney; siblings, Cornelia Fruncillo (husband, John) and twin brother, Peter Delaney (wife, Joanne Liberto), both of Philadelphia; sister-in-law, Carol Turza Delaney of Wilmington, NC; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Susan (Podlesnie) Delaney; and a brother, William Francis Delaney.

A visitation will be held from 10-11:30 AM on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland, with a 12PM mass following at St. Theresa Catholic Church (located directly across the street from the funeral home).
