Daniel E. Hayes, Iii

Daniel E. Hayes III, 74, of New Cumberland, PA passed peacefully on Monday, September 28, 2020. He was born in Queens, NY on July 31, 1946 and was son to Mary A. (Metzger) Hayes and the late Daniel E. Hayes Jr.

An Army National Guard Veteran, Danny was a retired Ironworker from Ironworker’s Local Union 404 in Harrisburg, PA. In retirement, he lovingly and dotingly cared for his ailing father and elderly mother for years as their primary caregiver.

Danny had a quiet passion for golf, Corvettes, discussing politics (he was a proud, lifelong Democrat) and he enjoyed playing the lottery. In the end, his greatest joy in life was being “Grandpa Dan” to Elias and Miles and he was always planning his next trip to Florida, even before the current one had ended.

In addition to his mother and grandsons, Danny is survived by his beloved daughter, Suzanne Koutsoulieris, her husband, John of Apopka, FL, and two step-granddaughters, Hallie and Julia Koutsoulieris. He is also survived by stepdaughter, Kelly (Munyon) VanDerpoel of Harrisburg, PA, his siblings, Michael (Becky) and Kathi Snell, both of New Cumberland, PA, Anne of Denver, CO and Brian of Middletown, PA. He also leaves behind 20 nieces and nephews over three generations.

A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.
