Daniel F. Cobaugh, Sr., 86, of Fairview Twp. Lewisberry, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022 in his residence surrounded by his loving daughters.
Dan was a Supervisor with DDRE (New Cumberland Army Depot), Fairview Twp. and an infantry sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War where he earned his Korean War Medal and his Korean Defense Medal serving from 15 September 1953 to 18 September 1961.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed working outside on his property, hunting, fishing and hunting for elk in Montana. Dan was all about cooking. He hosted all of the family gatherings at the holidays and enjoyed feeding others even more than he enjoyed eating it himself.
Dan was born in Harrisburg, the son of the late Clayton and Mary Agnes (Hoffon) Cobaugh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Daniel F. Cobaugh, Jr. and was the widower of Ruth Ann (Lehr) Cobaugh.
He is survived by his daughters, Brenda Collins of Harrisburg, Karen Hitesman of New Bloomfield and Susan Glover of Lewisberry; seven grandchildren, Marissa, Emily, Lea, Seth, Miranda, Skylar and Nicolas; and five great grandchildren, Wyatt, Willow, Witten and Weylynn Washburn and Danielle Waddell; seven siblings, Pauline Dillon, Dot Behney, Betty Robinson, Violet Miller, Melvin Cobaugh, Harold Cobaugh and Mary Miller.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 in New Love in Christ Church, 6003 Jonestown Rd. Harrisburg, PA 17112. A meal and fellowship will immediately follow the service in the church’s banquet hall. Private burial with military honors will be held at the discretion of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Twp., Lebanon County, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made in Dan’s memory to either Wormleysburg Church of God, 215 West Chocolate Ave. Apt. 10K, Hershey, PA 17033 or the Humane Society of the Harrisburg Area, 7790 Grayson Road Harrisburg, PA 17111.
