Daris Alma (Karchner) Roberts

Daris Alma (Karchner) Roberts 89, of Camp Hill died Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the Holy Spirit Hospital.

She was born on October 4, 1934 in Mifflin Township, Columbia County, daughter of the late Sterlen and Ada (Slusser) Karchner.

She was a 1952 graduate of the former Mifflinville High School.

She was active as a Kiwanis wife with her husband in the Harrisburg Kiwanis Club for 26 years, Cedar Cliff Band Boosters, Lions Club wife, cub and girl scouts. She was a 60 plus year member of Camp Hill United Methodist Church and recently most active in the Sheltering Arms knitting group, and very active volunteering in the church and community throughout the years. 

Upon arriving in Harrisburg in 1955 she worked for Capital Products, took time off to have two children, then went to work at the Patriot News, Community Services Department. She also helped at her husband’s private practice CPA office, and for 33 years had worked in the office of Sears, Capital City Mall.

 She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James K. Roberts, Jr.

She is survived by two children, retired Air Force Master Sergeant Blair P. Roberts of Camp Hill and Renee M. Roberts of Ephrata, a sister Izetta Ent, Nescopeck; six grandchildren, Blair (Arlene) of Columbus, GA, Lance (Mia Carlson) of Lancaster, Logan of Raleigh, NC, Larson, Lyle, and Landry all of Ephrata; a great-grandson, Bruce of Columbus, GA, and three nieces and a nephew.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, August 13th at 11am at Camp Hill United Methodist Church, 417 South 22nd St., Camp Hill, PA 17011. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
