David Shaffer, 65, formerly of Harrisburg and Newberry Twp., died Thursday, February 27, 2014 in Mid-Pinellas Care Center, Pinellas Park, FL.
He was a retired Transportation Manager with D.D.R.E., Fairview Twp., PA and a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a Life Member of VFW Post 7530, Lower Allen Twp.; attended St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland and St. Francis Catholic Church, Harrisburg; and loved golfing and his canine companion, Dakota.
David was born in Harrisburg to Anna M. (Filippelli) Shaffer of Harrisburg and the late Lawrence P. Shaffer.
He is survived by his wife Deborah J. (Watson) Shaffer; his son David Shaffer; four daughters, Kristen Mushinski, Cherie Crockett, Maria Berry and Angela Shaffer Hopkins; two stepsons, Victor and Richard Altigieri; two sisters, Mary Smith of Millerstown and Barbara Twigg of Harrisburg; a brother Richard Shaffer of Mechanicsburg; and thirteen grandchildren, Dawson, Luke, Hope, Omari, Nevan, Kelsie, Meagin, Steven, Dylan, Savannah, Connor, Noah and Caleb.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Twp.
