Deborah (Hill) Neenan, 66, of Newville, passed away on July 4, 2023 at Penn State Holy Spirit Medical Center, Camp Hill. Born on December 18, 1956 in Pearisburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Edward G. and Ann (Mitchell) Hill.
Deb’s family relocated to West Virginia, where she would go on to graduate from East Bank Senior High School (Class of 1975). She was driven, and she always did what was needed to support her family. In 1988, Deb would move to Newville, PA, beginning a new chapter in life. She would meet and fall in love with a gentleman named Richard, and after a year of dating, the couple would tie the knot. A truly significant period in Deb’s life, everything just seemed to get better from that point onward.
For those fortunate to have met Deb, you knew she wasn’t one to keep her opinions to herself. Sure, she could be sweet and tender when necessary, but she had sass and a quick one-liner at the ready. Some may have called her stubborn, but in reality, she was strong-willed and independent. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and whipped up the best meals. Deb’s skills in the kitchen came from time spent with her own mother, an outstanding southern cook. Her biscuits and gravy – one of her specialties – were out of this world!
Though she didn’t own a dog of her own, she loved them, and was always first in line when the “grand-dogs” needed a sitter. She grew up in the First Church of God and would maintain her faith in the Lord all her life. Deb may not have had the greenest of thumbs, but she was certainly a fan of plants. Her happiest times were spent with those she loved before her health declined in recent years. Deb’s family is smiling, knowing she’s been reunited with her late husband – her best friend and the love of her life.
Surviving Deb are her children, Christina “LeAnne” Longenecker (Brian) of New Cumberland, Richard L. Neenan III (Dawn) of MI, Christopher S. Neenan (Lynn Kelly) of Bressler, and Rebekah J. Dirkman (Brian) of Hazlet, NJ; grandchildren, Jordan, Christopher, Larry, Kyle, Patrick, Nicholas, Josiah, Trevor, and Emmett; a nephew, Alex; and a large extended family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Neenan, Jr; and a brother, Terry Hill.
