Dennis Charles Gopear

Dennis C. Gopear, 76, of Lewisberry, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023 in his residence surrounded by his loving family.  He will be dearly missed.

He was born in Cleveland, OH March 2, 1947.  After graduation he joined the US Army and did tours including Vietnam and Germany.  After the Army he worked at Fruehauf Freight as a line supervisor for 25 years and after the terminal closed, he started working for Newberry Twp. and its Highway Crew and retired after 29 years.

While in the service, he married the love of his life, Karen Louise (Groves) Gopear and they were married for more than 55 years. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Ruth (Sott) Gopear; his beloved son Bryan; his sister Anna Marie Gopear; and his mother and father-in-law, Warren E. and Evelyn Groves.

He is survived by wife, Karen Louise (Groves) Gopear, son, Dennis C. (Diana) Gopear, II, sister Nancy (Buddy) Rinicella, three grandchildren, Christina M., Emily L. and Ivyonna L. Gopear; three great grandchildren, Brooklyn, River and Aston, and two nephews, Sean and Mark Hanson

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 15, 2023 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland.  Visitation with the family will be from 10 – 11 am.  Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
