Dennis J. Redding, 55, of Wormleysburg, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at Harrisburg Hospital.
He was the Public Works Supervisor and a Borough Councilman for the Borough of Wormleysburg. He graduated from Cedar Cliff High School, Camp Hill PA in 1977 and earned his Associates Degree in Architectural Engineering at the Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport, PA.
Dennis was a member of St Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland PA where he belonged to their Knights of Columbus Council and was a former coach of both the Boys and Girls High School CYO Basketball teams. He was the captain of the West Fairview American Legion Pool Team; past president of the Wormleysburg Youth Baseball Association; past president of the Wormleysburg Parks and Recreation Commission; past president of the Holy Spirit Hospital Bowling League; past commissioner of the Wormleysburg Athletic Association, former coach of the Lemoyne Middle School Golf Team; and a founding member of the WCG.
Other organizations included The Sons of Liberty through the West Fairview American Legion, West Fairview Riders motorcycle club, coach for the Tri-County Teener Baseball League, and a member of the Wormleysburg Riverfront Committee.
Dennis was born in Gettysburg to Rose (Klunk) Redding Brockway of Mechanicsburg and the late Mark A Redding.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife Mary Ann (Urbasik) Redding; three children, Mark A Redding II and wife Jamie of Carlisle, Arreanne M Redding of Shippensburg, and Dennis J Redding Jr of Wormleysburg; sisters, Constance Redding of Halifax and Julie Redding Brockway of Mechanicsburg; three grandchildren, Ashton, McKenzie and James; and in-laws, Theresa Highlands, Agnes and Robert Peiffer, John and Gena Stephens, Judith and Patrick Wentz, Catherine Urbasik, and Marie and Steven Rickrode.
The viewing will be from 6 – 8 pm Friday evening February 20, 2015 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Saturday, St Theresa’s, 1300 Bridge St, New Cumberland, PA 17070 with the Rev J Michael McFadden as Celebrant. Immediately following Mass, a reception will be held at Wormleysburg Borough Hall, 20 Market St, Wormleysburg, PA 17043.
