Dennis Lee James, 63, of Wormleysburg, Pennsylvania passed away at his home from natural causes on June 27, 2024. He came into the world in 1961 in Roswell, New Mexico to Donald and Juliana James and was an adventurous kid from the start. As a child, he enjoyed trying new things and made friends easily. In his youth, he was athletic, participating in baseball, football, and gymnastics. Growing up he lived in four different states but the majority of his younger years were spent in Southern Indiana where he graduated from Jeffersonville High School and attended Indiana University Southeast. During his college years, he began working with computers, which started his lifelong career in information technology.
As a logical thinker, it is no wonder Dennis' favorite scripture was James 5:12, "let your yes be yes and your no be no." This logical sensibility served him well in his 40+ years in information technology, starting in the early 1980's. In 1988 he accepted a position as a Technical Consultant that moved him away from Southern Indiana and landed him in Pennsylvania. He moved around early in his career to Battle Creek Michigan, where is Daughter Amanda was born, and to upstate New York before he returned back to Pennsylvania in the late 1990's. In 2007 he accepted a position as a Technical Consultant with Info-Matrix, who quickly became his work family. He enjoyed his work immensely and was highly regarded by his coworkers and the clients he served.
Dennis was an avid car enthusiast who did not just view a vehicle as a means for transportation but he also believed your vehicle was an extension of your personality. Over the years he owned a wide variety of vehicles, from awesome muscle cars like his 1972 Duster and classics like his 1975 Monte Carlo, to everyday vehicles like his 1997 Ford Ranger. In addition to an unwavering enthusiasm for automobiles, he also had a passion for music, with an eclectic taste that spanned 7 decades and multiple genres. He had the expertise of a shade-tree mechanic and on any given weekend, you could find him listening to music while working on a vehicle, whether it belonged to him, a family member, or a friend.
His unexpected passing comes as a shock to his family and friends, who are still reeling at the loss. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Donald James, and is survived by his daughter, Amanda James, mother, Juliana James , brother, David James (Ellen), sisters, Julie Aemmer (Fred) and JoAnn Graham (Pat), one niece, three nephews, two great-nephews, a host of good friends, and a great work family, all of whom will miss him dearly.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Oak Park Baptist Church located at 1111 Allison Lane in Jeffersonville, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the American Heart Association.
