Donald T. Rittler, 96, of New Cumberland, died Wednesday, February 24th, 2016, at Pinnacle Health, Harrisburg Campus.
He retired after 43 years of service as a Train Director in the signal towers for PRR, Penn Central and Conrail Railroads; a M Sgt in the Army 775th Railway Grand Division and the 3rd Rail Military Regiment in Japan and was a WWII veteran; a graduate of the former William Penn High School; a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, New Cumberland; the former Lakeside Lutheran Church, Harrisburg; National Historical Railroad Society; the Harris Tower Restoration, P.R.R. Born on May 11th, 1919 in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Paul T. and Margaritta (Sheller) Rittler. He was the widower of Mary E. (Ulsh) Rittler.
Surviving are a daughter, Donna M. Rittler of New Cumberland and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday in St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, New Cumberland, with the Rev. Elaine M. Dent, his pastor, officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.
Viewing will be held from 5 – 7 PM on Monday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.
