Doris “Dot” Frances Barrett, 88, of New Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020 in Spring Creek Rehabilitation Center, Harrisburg.
Born in Patterson, NJ, on November 13, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Lillie M. Wolverton. She was the widow of Calvin Z. Barrett and was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles R. Wolverton and a sister Betty J. Bowlby.
Following her birth in Patterson, her family moved to Califon, NJ. In 1952, she married Calvin and moved to California. Following Cal's discharge from the Navy, they returned to NJ. In 1963, she and her husband moved to Chambersburg and opened the Barrett Dental Laboratory. In 1974, they moved to Allendale, Camp Hill, and opened the Barrett Dental Laboratory in Lemoyne and then moved the laboratory to Camp Hill in 1987 and changed the name to AB Dental Laboratory. She retired in 1997.
She was a member of Community United Methodist Church, New Cumberland since 1975, served on several committees and was an avid supporter of New Cumberland Youth Baseball Assn.
She is survived by her sons, Wayne C. Barrett and wife Jennifer of New Cumberland and Warren J. Barrett and wife Jeannie of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Jamie Fetters (Jeff), Tara Kolojejchick (Adam), Cassie Waterman (Adam) and Maci Lynne Barrett; three step grandchildren, Jake White, Joey White and Jennifer Fitzpatrick; and two great grandsons, Kenneth Ray Waterman and Isaac C. Waterman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, February 27, 2020 in Community United Methodist Church, 16th and Bridge Sts. New Cumberland with the Rev. Manuel Valentin, her pastor officiating. Visitation with family will be one hour prior to services in the church. Burial will be in Tri-County Memorial Gardens, Fairview Twp.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the American Cancer Society-Harrisburg, P.O. Box 897 Hershey, PA 17033 or to her church at the address above.
