Doris J. "Dorre" Kauffman

Doris J. “Dorre” Kauffman, 81, of Fairview Twp., New Cumberland, died Sunday, August 18, 2013, at her home.

She was a beautician and the retired owner/operator of Dorre's Beauty Salon, Reeser's Summit, New Cumberland; attended Grace Baptist Church of Lewisberry; a member of the Glitzie Gals of the Red Hatters; a published poet and a folk artist; enjoyed gardening, antiques and refinishing furniture. Born on December 29, 1931, in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late Arthur R. and Henrietta B. (Barrick) Zook. She was the widow of Walter E. Kauffman and was also preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Stewart.

Surviving are two sons, Ernest W. (Nancy) of York Springs and Robert E. (Sandra) of York Springs; two daughters, Jeanne L. Aderholt (Larry) of Mechanicsburg and Ruth A. Aikens (Lynn) of New Cumberland; a brother, Eugene L. Zook of Lewisberry; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland, with Pastor Don Isely officiating. Entombment will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services in the funeral home.
