Doris J. Myers, 93, of Camp Hill, departed this world on Friday, November 15, 2024. Born in Harrisburg on March 16, 1931, to the late Ross and Lottie Arnold, she was the ninth child and last survivor of her family of ten.
She was the widow of George R. Myers Sr., to whom she was married for over 51 years when he succumbed to cancer in 2000. She was also preceded in death by two children, George R. Myers Jr. and Barbara Hoffman.
Doris leaves behind two sons, Randy Myers (Pam) of Harrisburg and Keith Myers (Bonnie) of Etters; a daughter, Trudy Myers of Carlisle; and a daughter-in-law, June Myers of Camp Hill. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
Doris graduated from the former John Harris High School in 1949. After raising her children, she began her banking career, working at Dauphin Deposit Bank as a savings teller and then at PHEAA as a loan officer for 10 years. She attended banking classes at HACC, Dickinson and Lebanon Valley College, and would go on to work as a loan officer for the credit union at the Harrisburg Post Office until her retirement in 1991.
She enjoyed being with her family, especially when they were all able to be together. She loved gardening and designing her yard into a beautiful landscape. She also enjoyed reading and walking and visiting with her many friends.
Doris and her late husband traveled many times with the Zembo Shrine Oriental Band, from Canada to California and Mexico. They also enjoyed going to Myrtle Beach and Florida, as well as vacationing in Hawaii.
Doris taught Sunday School at Camp Hill United Methodist Church when her children were young. She had been a member since 1952.
She was a former member of Steadfast Eastern Star Chapter, Ladies Oriental Shrine, Daughters of the Nile and the auxiliary of the Oriental Band, Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg.
A visitation will take place from 10-11AM on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland, with a memorial service starting at 11AM. Committal will immediately follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
