Dorothy G. Sterner

Dorothy G. Sterner, 95, of Chambersburg and formerly of Mont Alto, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016 in Menno Haven, Chambersburg.
She was born in Harrisburg to the late G. Harold and Mary (Heikes) Gilbert.
Dorothy was a retired elementary school teacher at Highland Elementary School in the West Shore School District, Camp Hill and was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School class of 1938 and West Chester State College (now West Chester University) class of 1942. She was a member of Fetterhoff Chapel United Methodist Church, Chambersburg and a former member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Mont Alto; the PA Association of School Retirees; Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority; Steadfast Chapter 479, Order of Eastern Star, Mechanicsburg; and enjoyed reading, gardening and knitting.
Dorothy was the widow of M. Robert Sterner and is survived by her daughter Debra S. Herrold and husband Glenn of South Mountain, PA; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, March 14, 2016 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday in the funeral home. Entombment will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
