Dorothy I. Rafferty

Dorothy I. Rafferty, (Mom Raff) 85 of Camp Hill, passed peacefully Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at home surrounded by her loving family. Mom was a special woman, graceful and full of manners. She always stayed old school but sure was full of whit. She was kind and loving, everyone that met her loved her as their own mother.
She was a lifetime member of Auxiliary VFW Post 7415, American Legion Auxiliary Post 974 Fairview Twp for 38 years. In 1953 at the age of 23 she raced numerous times in the Powder Puff Derby, placing 2nd and 3rd in two of the races. In her younger years she was an avid softball player and bowler. In her later years she loved to play Spider solitaire on her computer. She loved supporting and attending her children and grandchildren’s events.
She was born August 28, 1929 in Syracuse, NY to the late Karl and Ruth (Diehl) Uffelman. She was also preceded in death by her husband George L.; son, Paul D. Rafferty and two brothers, Karl F. and William H. Uffelman.
She is survived by a son, William J. and wife Nicole of Hope Mills, NC; two daughters, Julie A. and husband John Miller of Mechanicsburg and Ruth G. and husband Mert Harshbarger of New Cumberland; a sister, Julia A. Valkus of Harrisburg; and three grandchildren. Mandy Shepherd, Alexa Rafferty and Erik Welker.
Visitation will be from 11am until funeral services at noon Monday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Interment services will be held at 2 pm Monday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
