Dorothy Jane Skonezney

Dorothy Jane Skonezney, 79, of Harrisburg and formerly of Mechanicsburg and New Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 in her residence.

She was a retired office clerk with the former Kinney Shoe Corporation, Camp Hill and worked for the West Shore School District as a cafeteria monitor. Dorothy was passionate about following her granddaughters’ school and sports activities. She was the rock and strength of the family having endured many health issues throughout her life. She put her own needs aside to be there for her family. She enjoyed gardening, travel, home projects, and going to the casino with her family. Her last memory was seeing pictures of her new great grandson who made her smile through her pain.

Dorothy was born in Tacoma, WA to the late Benjamin and Carrie (Berg) Ausbun.

She is survived by her husband of more than 57 years, Richard T. Skonezney; son James Richard Skonezney and wife Vicki (Lescallette) of Mechanicsburg; daughter Deborah Rae Skonezney of Harrisburg; sister Lucille Laughlin of Longmont, CO; two granddaughters, Amanda Luke and husband Peter and Lauren Skonezney; and a great grandson Declan Luke.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Viewing will be held one hour prior to services in the funeral home. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
