Dorothy M. "Dottie" Clark

June 28, 1928 — March 9, 2023

Dorothy M. “Dottie” Clark, 94, of New Cumberland, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Susan (Pechart) Froelich, born on June 28, 1928 at the family home in Lemoyne.

Dottie was a graduate of the former Lemoyne High School (’47) and would marry the love of her life later that year. She and Charles would ultimately become a family of six, with Dottie working at the PA State Capital for nearly a decade before transitioning to a 40+ year career with the West Shore School District as a school bus driver. She was a hit with her student passengers, and it made her beam when a kid from the past would come up and say, “Hi, Mrs. Clark!"

It was easy to see why Dottie was so loved; she was a selfless individual, always caring for those around her, and devoting the time she could to her church and community. A longtime member of Eberly’s Mill Church of God, Camp Hill, she was an active and positive member of the congregation, volunteering her time and talents (especially in the kitchen) in every possible way. She was one of the “Golden Girls” – a group of six women from church who did practically everything together, and a former member of the Lion’s Club and Fairview Twp. Fire Dept. Auxiliary. Maintaining her license to operate a bus, she volunteered at Bethany Village by transporting their seniors.

Dottie was always lining up new adventures later in life, making multiple trips to Disney World with her family and insisting on a hot air balloon ride to celebrate her 75th birthday. She even overcame her fear of traveling over water, flying to Europe with her daughter, several years back. Dottie was well read and an absolute wiz in the kitchen. She was known for gifting her famous strawberry jelly (instead of cards) for special occasions, and her fudge and peach pies were out of this world! Each year, she would make 100-dozen fastnachts for Fat Tuesday and the best (and thinnest!) sand tarts at Christmas. Dottie’s chocolate cake and chicken corn soup were the highlight of Bingo night, and she wouldn’t have had it any other way. She lived to serve others and to love those around her. She will be deeply missed.

Surviving Dottie are her children, Howard R. Clark (Doris) of New Cumberland, Luther W. Clark (Joanne) of Greenwood, SC, Rosellen E. Dugan of Mountain Home, ID, and Stacey L. Clark (Jackie) of New Cumberland; grandchildren, Jeff Clark (Alisa), Kelly Clark Tobin, Brian Clark (Aimee), Connie Clark (Scott), Crista Ramm (Sean), Dallas Dugan (Mandy), Jessica Dugan, Amelia Clark and Cooper Clark; great-grandchildren, Casey, Kyle, Lauren, Madelyn, Alexandra, Zachary, Lyle, Ashlyn, Emily, Aaron, Madeline, Audrey, Collin, Camie, Ryanne, Ethan and Cadence; and one great-great-granddaughter, Autumn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Clark; a granddaughter, Adria Clark; son-in-law, William L. Dugan; and siblings, Orrie Froelich, Marian Crawford, Roseanna Bishop and Barbara Sholly.

A public viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, from 10AM until services begin at 11AM in Eberly’s Mill Church of God, Camp Hill. Burial will take place at 10AM the following morning in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
