Dorothy Minium, 98, of Mechanicsburg, PA, and formerly of Lewistown and New Cumberland, died Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Country Meadows Retirement Community in Mechanicsburg.
She was a founding member of Grace Community Church of Mechanicsburg and a former member of Winfield Baptist Church in Winfield. Dot was a retired teacher at SUN Area Technical School in New Berlin, where she taught Cosmetology for 17 years. Prior to that, she taught at John Harris Technical School and Harrisburg School of Beauty Culture. She loved to journal and was very active in her local church. At church, she taught journaling to others in addition to founding both a widow’s bible study group, " Women in Transition" (WIT), and a Senior's group known as the "Live Wires." She was also active in the Ladies Missionary Society.
She was born on April 25, 1926, in Lewistown, PA, to the late Harry and Grace (Huntington) Bennett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merrill E. Minium, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Heidi E. Magyar and husband, John Magyar, of Virginia Beach, VA; and son, Dr. Mark M. Minium and his wife, Debra Minium, of Neelyton, PA. In addition, she has five grandchildren, Kirsten Magyar, Kyle Magyar, Daniel Minium, Rachel Wilson and Leah Ponichtera; five great grandchildren, Montana, Makinley, Cali, Ulysses, and Asher; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10AM on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Grace Community Church, 325 Silver Spring Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Church Hill Cemetery, Lewisburg.
