E. Christine Patton, 67, of Mechanicsburg died Saturday, May 23, 2020 at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Chris was born August 13, 1952 in Kittanning, PA to the late Kenneth Grant and Bernice (Bernauer) Patton. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Douglas. She graduated from I.U.P. and received her Masters from the University of Pennsylvania.
Chris retired as an IT Support Manager from the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts, where she was a manager. After retirement, Chris worked as an elementary substitute teacher for Cumberland Valley and Mechanicsburg School Districts, and in the summer, she worked part time at The Royal Treat in Rehoboth Beach, DE
Some of Chris’s favorite ways to spend time were cooking, baking, reading, and traveling. She loved experimenting with different cuisines and taking cooking lessons. Her Christmas cookie trays were famous among her friends and family – she made so many cookies that she began baking in October. Chris was always reading more than one book at a time and was a member of two book clubs. Chris and her wife were international travelers, yet no matter how far they traveled, Chris always returned to Rehoboth, DE, which was her happy place.
Chris is survived by her wife, Virginia L. Fessler; sister-in-laws, Wendy Otstot of Mechanicsburg and Linda Patton of Florida; nieces, Lynn Sanders (Matthew) of Dillsburg, and Jill Hackman (Christopher) of Lititz. Chris cherished her great nephews and niece; Zach, Sarah, and Mitchell Sanders; and Andrew and Matthew Hackman. Chris also leaves behind many close friends who she considered part of her family.
Due to the government restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, a Celebration of Chris’s Life will be held at a later date. However, the family would like to thank all of their friends for their unwavering support over the past 18 months.
