E. Jane Barger, 75, of Harrisburg, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 9, 2014, while vacationing in Costa Rica.
She was in her 39th year with the Pennsylvania Department of Treasury and a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. The primary focus of Jane’s life was her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who was unfailingly supportive of her children and grandchildren.
Jane was born in Harrisburg to the late Donald and Helen (Winter) Walkemeyer, Sr.
She was the widow of Richard I. Barger and is survived by her five children, Cherie and her husband, Charles Buser of Dauphin, Scott Barger of Harrisburg, Lori and her husband, Fritz Ulrich of Middletown, Luann Neifert of Mechanicsburg, and Colleen Barger of Harrisburg; a sister Michele and her husband, Al Krebs of Lemoyne; two brothers, Joel Walkemeyer and his wife, Joan of Missouri, and Donald Walkemeyer, Jr. of York; and five grandchildren, Christopher, Brandon, Adam, Alexis and Alyse.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, February 17, 2014 in St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4200 Londonderry Rd. Harrisburg, PA 17109 with the Rev. James E. Person, her pastor officiating. Viewing will be one hour prior to services in the church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Twp.
