Earl A. “Rocky” Radabaugh, 82, of New Cumberland, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015 in his residence.
He was owner and operator of Earl A. Radabaugh State Farm Insurance Agency in New Cumberland, a Korean War Army Veteran of the 187th Infantry Regiment (Rakkasans) of the 101st Airborne Division. He was a U.S. Army Airborne School Instructor in Fort Benning, GA and a 5th Degree Black Belt. Other accolades include a member of the VFW Post 6076, AMVETS, the American Legion Post 143, (JOES) Jumpers over Eighty Society, Loyal Order of Moose and (USPA) United States Parachute Association.
Rocky was born in East Pennsboro Twp. to the late Warren and Catherine (Deckman) Radabaugh.
He is survived by his children, Scott D. Radabaugh and wife Laurie of Shiremanstown, Eric M. Radabaugh and wife Darlene of BelAir, MD and Kathy J. Witmer and husband Roger of Mechanicsburg; his siblings, Elmer Radabaugh and wife Hazel, Lillian Stouffer, Doris Kauffman, John Radabaugh, Lois Starr and Linda Gibbs; and nine grandchildren, Mindy, Melissa, Alicia, Kyle, Bryan, Anthony, Stanton, Hillary and David; and three great grandchildren.
Rocky took great pride in his professional life as an agent for State Farm Insurance Company. Rocky held the bar high in providing loyalty and outstanding customer support to his clientele during his 52 year tenure.
A very heart filled and special thanks to Annette Putt, Rocky’s long time staff and team member. Annette handled a large portion of the day in and day out operations, and was instrumental in the success of the agency. Annette went above and beyond many times throughout the years, but none more so than the past few months.
Rocky’s other passion was skydiving. He traveled the country for skydiving conventions, meets and boogies. He had logged 3,360 jumps during these adventures. Our family would like to extend our many thanks to Rocky’s beloved skydiving family who provided comfort and support to him during his illness; “Wishing You Blue Skies”.
Rocky had coined many words of wisdom during his 82 years, but none more famous than “Always be nice to the girl kids” and “Don’t speed and don’t wiggle”.
“Dad-Rocky” You will be missed dearly.
