Earl L. Calhoun, 88, of Lewisberry, fought the good fight of faith and was called to eternal life on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 in Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Derry Twp.
He was a retired machinist for Bethlehem Steel Corporation, Steelton Plant and a WWII Navy veteran serving as a radioman. Earl was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Steelton where he served as a Sunday School teacher, Youth Director and Past Council President. He was a member of Steelton-Swatara Lodge #775, F&AM; Valley Grange #1360, Warrington Twp.; and served as Scoutmaster for BSA Troop #106, Steelton.
Earl was born in Steelton to the late Alton and Anna “Minnie” (Leonhart) Calhoun. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Alton, James, Robert, Harold, Ralph, and Dorothy.
He is survived by his wife of more than 65 years Mary (Steffen) Calhoun; children, Cheryl Whittle and husband Tom of Boothbay Harbor, ME, Michael E. Calhoun of Lewisberry, Christine L. Barna and husband Mike of Steelton and Beth A. Sauder and husband Dale Wayne of Middletown; seven grandchildren, Alton, Teianna, Jessica, Mikey, Sarah, Austin and Taylor; and eight great-grandchildren, Ashley, Aubrey, Drew, Derek, Mackenzie, Adonai, Zachary and Zoey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, November 3, 2014 in his church with the Rev. Carol H. Parr, his Pastor officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the church. Burial will be in Emanuel Cemetery, Lewisberry.
