Earlene A. (Troy) Royston, 85, of Hampden Twp., passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at UPMC West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg. She was the daughter of the late Earl and Mary (Lowe) Troy, born on December 28, 1935 in Harrisburg.
Earlene grew up in Harrisburg, attending John Harris High School and then marrying her sweetheart, John, whose military assignments would take their family to all points of the globe. Although they didn’t stay in one place for long, Earlene considered California her home. She was a caring mother and always put her family first. She would continue her schooling at Chapman University, obtaining a Master’s in Education. Employed with the San Bernardino County School System for nearly two decades, she would serve as a counselor and vice-principal at Apple Valley High School. She also spent time as an adjunct professor at Chapman University, Orange, CA, where she taught undergraduates pursuing a degree in Education.
Surviving Earlene are her children, Lucy A. McCulloch of TX, and John A. Royston of Carpinteria, CA; granddaughters, Rachel M. Royston and Ciara Anne Royston; a sister, Nola Weeks; nieces, Mary Kay, Karen, Jamie, Kerri, and Kristie; and a nephew, Butch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John W. Royston, Jr.; a sister, Mary Louise Troy; and a niece, Jody Robenseifner.
A memorial service will be held at 1PM on Saturday, November 13, 2021 in the mausoleum at Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
