Edward W. Paul, 79, of New Cumberland, died Friday, December 12th, 2014, at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
Born March 6th, 1935, Edward was the first-born son of the late George J. and Helen M. (Keen) Paul. Mr. Paul graduated from Williamstown High School, Williamstown, PA Class of 1953. He joined the United States Marine Corps (USMC), completed Boot Camp at Parris Island and served in First Platoon “ A ”Company, 8th Tanks, out of Camp Lejeune, NC.
Following his six years of military service, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Shippensburg University under the GI Bill. He began teaching at Cedar Cliff High School in 1963. He retired from teaching after 32 years of service to the West Shore School District.
He and his wife attended The Christian Life Assembly in Camp Hill, PA.
Mr. Paul was very proud of his service in the USMC and was regarded by family and friends as a true patriot who exemplified the integrity and standards of the Corps the rest of his life. Applying the traditions of the Corps, his greatest accomplishments included his faithful marriage, his four children and six grandchildren to whom he was fervently committed. His family reports, “His greatest accomplishment was being our Dad!”
Surviving are his wife of 55+ years, Patricia M. Haar Paul; three sons, Patrick E. of Salt Lake City, UT; Perry R. of Downingtown, PA; Preston J. of New Cumberland, PA; and a daughter, Pamela L. Reed of Dillsburg; two brothers, Clair Paul of Neenah, WI, and Lynn Paul of Lykens; a sister, Evelyn Snyder of Lykens; six grandchildren.
Memorial service for friends and family will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, December 19th at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.
A private Inurnment of the Ashes will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. There will be no visitation or viewing.
